We met with the founding partners, Sylvia and Hajdaj, who work with friends of ours here in the United States.
Eco Life has developed an off-the-grid, solar-powered walk-in cooler at their facility on the north side of Kampala. We were able to tour their facility and understand how the system works. It’s not unusual in developing communities for as much as 75% of harvested crops to be lost due to a lack of cold storage.
The Eco Life system can solve much of that problem. However, the challenge of proving the viability and benefits of the system has been difficult. Currently, there are only four of their systems in operation in the field.

Thanks to Mr. Sam Owen, we were introduced to Andrew Ongoka. Andrew is a Kenyan national who is married to a U.S. medical doctor.
We met with Nelson Mookie, Manager of Capital Projects for Care International Hospital.
We enjoyed a dinner with our friend Nicholas Selby! Since we met a year earlier, Nicholas has only increased his involvement in supporting solar initiatives across rural Africa.
We met with Peter Fry the executive director for Kua Ventures.
The Bucket Ministry provides a bucket and a water filter so that people who do not have access to clean water will and in the process of distributing and educating recipients they also share the gospel.
Our next meeting was with Mr. David Osamba of Nyabon Enterprises in Nairobi. His company is focused on optimizing the business of small farming.
From the fish farm, we proceeded to Container World Africa, where the owner, Calvin, showed us his operation.
Next, we visited the 93C fish farm operated by Father’s House in Ruiru, Kenya.
Their primary purpose is to train and develop skills for young people in Kenya.
This venture was started in 2017 by XXX. They have created an off-the-grid irrigation system that incorporates a solar-powered water pump, which feeds an elevated storage tank.
